The Bones2Go! Philosophy. 

Bones2Go! carefully selects products that we believe best represent our view of RAW feeding, healthy food and other products that promote a healthy, fun and rewarding lifestyle for you and your pet. We have hundreds of products to choose from and the best way to experience what we have to offer is to visit the store. We are currently working on an on-line shopping cart that will allow you to order products directly from us. Hopefully this will be made available soon. Check back to the home page regularly for updates and news on the on-line store. In the meantime check here for a summary of the types and brands of products we carry. You will also find useful information and what to consider when choosing a food or product for your pet. Frozen "Complete" diets. 

A complete diet, for this purpose, is a diet that has been tested by a laboratory and meets all AAFCO requirements for all stages of life, for either dog, or cat nutrition. Most raw products are tested to meet for cat and dog. These products are able to sustain your dog (or cat) without any additional supplements or variety offered, so in theory, you could pick one of the flavors offered and feed solely that food and your dog or cat would be just fine. Of course, your dog (and most certainly your cat!) will have something else to say about that!

Complete diets are the most expensive of the pre-made diets. They are generally more complex, in that they have multiple ingredients enabling them to meet the AAFCO standards. They are generally available in patty or nugget or medallion form for ease of feeding and quick defrosting. They are easy to store and very user friendly. Because of the need for quantity feeding of these “complete” diets, either for large/giant breed dogs or for multi-dog households, some of the manufacturers are responding with bigger packages of the complete diets. Currently Nature’s Logic and Paw NatuRaw offer a 5lb roll and we offer case pricing (with mixed products from the same line) to help reduce cost. If you have the patience to divide these larger servings for smaller dogs, you can save some money by exchanging the convenience of patties or nuggets/medallions for some personal labor/time.

Frozen “Supplemental” diets. 
Texas Department of Agriculture requires that any food intended for a dog or cat that is not complete per AAFCO guidelines must be labelled as “for intermittent or supplemental feeding only”. What does that mean? Basically, that you cannot take one of these foods and only feed one kind to your cat or dog and expect it to thrive. There will be gaps in the nutritional profile and over time, your pet will not do as well. Supplemental feeding is not a bad thing, in fact, it is how we feed ourselves. We eat a little of this and that every day and over time we meet our nutritional needs by eating a wide variety of foods, and most of us do it without supplementing our diets with vitamins and minerals. We could not expect to eat a strawberry yogurt for every meal and expect to thrive, however healthy the yogurt may be independently!

Examples of supplemental diets (ground) at Bones2Go! are Primal (Mixes and Grinds). Supplemental diets are also created from “parts and pieces” - when you offer whole chicken necks, turkey necks, lamb breasts and organ meats. We can source most kinds of meaty bones, organs, muscle meats and veggies either in bulk or smaller quantities depending on your needs.


Choices are a good thing for your pet. Hey, how would you feel if you ate french fries for breakfast, lunch and dinner !
Choices range from Beef, Buffalo, Chicken, Duck, Emu, Goat, Lamb, Ostrich, Pork, Quail, Rabbit, Salmon, Sardines, Turkey, Venison, Yak and many more.☝
We also carry several lines of non frozen foods to make things easy during hurricane season or when you are on the road with your pet and don’t want to travel with raw. You should always have a non-frozen supply of food available for days you forget to defrost something for dinner or for you emergency supply kit when the power is out.

Canned Foods. 
We carry a wide variety of canned cat and dog foods including Weruva, Halo, ZiwiPeak, Evangers, Merrick and Tripett. These foods are excellent for helping cats transition to raw food if they are resistant to wean from dry food. They are also great for short term feeding if raw isn’t an option (boarding, travel, petsitter and so on). Many people include high quality canned food to supplement underweight pets or picky eaters or sick pets. Most dogs and cats thoroughly enjoy canned food as a treat when added to their regular food. We strongly recommend if you have a pet that will not or cannot eat quality raw or home cooked food, that they eat a quality canned diet or one of the re-hydrated foods we carry. We NEVER recommend dry kibble food as a full time diet for your pet. We think “quality kibble” is an oxymoron.


Dehydrated Food Choices. 

Honest Kitchen dehydrated food offers several varieties of foods to cover all life stages of nutrition with a good variety of protein sources and options for all budgets. They offer grain free varieties, as well as gluten free options and lower cost, budget friendly diets with easier to digest grains and starches such as quinoa and oatmeal. While grain free is our recommended way to feed, we recognize that it isn’t always possible for budgets to stretch to all raw with no grain all the time. The Honest Kitchen line allows you to feed your dogs a moist diet that in our opinion, is healthier than a dry kibble diet. It is also very easy to add fresh meat or canned fish to the diets to improve the meat to carbohydrate ratio.

Honest Kitchen (Preference) Dr. Harvey’s (Veg-to-bowl) and Sojourner Farms (Europa) also have a veggies only diet that is intended to be fed WITH fresh meat added to make a complete meal. This gives you total control over the meat content of your dogs diet without the extra work of preparing vegetables. These diets also contain a calcium supplement so no bones are required. These veggies can also be used for the “veggie” portion of a home prepared raw diet if you prefer the convenience. They are all three very palatable to the dogs (and even some cats!).

A relatively new product to market in the last year or so has been a dehydrated complete meat diet called “ZiwiPeak”. This is a raw meat diet that has been dehydrated into small jerky pieces and can be kept un-refrigerated in a cool dry spot. This is a very palatable option to dogs and cats, but is a dry product and can have the same issues of thirst and dehydration that a kibble diet can over time. This is a very expensive product that is good for short term back up, or as an appetite inducer, but is not really a viable option financially for most pet owners due to cost (especially if you have a large dog or multiple dogs). It does make excellent training treats as the pieces are small and dry but soft and easy to eat and they are quite “smelly” to the dog so keeps their attention well. We have found this product to be in the $120 price range for an 11lb bag, so even with feeding “less” because it is concentrated, it is still an unrealistic option for most people. We are however following the direction of this type of product because the idea is very interesting. ☝

Frozen “Recreational” Bones
Recreational bones are bones intended for recreational feeding and entertainment only. Not to destroy and swallow! Examples of these types of bones are generally from the harder, weight bearing bones of larger mammals, such as knuckle bones (Hips) and shank or marrow bones (legs) from cows or buffalo. Ribs are also a good recreational bone, but can also generally be consumed by larger dogs. It is always best to size your dogs bone to be bigger than he can potentially gulp/swallow and if he or she is a determined and aggressive chewer that is at risk for breaking a tooth by trying to crack a very large unbreakable bone, it is safer to actually give such a dog a softer, smaller bone so they can crush and destroy it without damaging their teeth. While we are happy to help you select a bone for your dog, it is ultimately your responsibility to know your dogs chewing style and supervise their chew time until you know what types of bones you can comfortably leave your dogs with unattended. We do not recommend leaving multiple dogs unattended with chew bones as fights can break out between the most peaceful of housemates under normal circumstances. Once a delicious bone is “on the table” all bets are off and it is much safer to put up bones if you won’t be around than to risk a squabble or worse.

Very small dogs can use turkey necks or smaller pork neck bone pieces as recreational bones because they don’t have the jaw strength to break and tear them like a large dog would. A lab or golden retriever would make quick work of a turkey neck or pork neck chunk (less than five minutes for sure) while a smaller poodle or terrier might work on the same item all day and only cause minor damage to it.

Treats
Our selection of treats is the most extensive of “natural” lines in Texas! We carry freeze dried, dry roasted, dehydrated, baked and pasteurized treats from all the best names in the business. Primal, Honest Kitchen, Stella & Chewy’s, Grandma Lucy’s, Canz, Wildside, Lakse Kronch, K9Magic, Zukes, Snooks and more.
We have dried ears, bully sticks, tracheas and lamb pizzles in sizes to suit the tiniest dogs to the giants.
The focus of our treat line is natural and grain free, but we do have a smaller section of treats with some simple grains or extra ingredients that give the finished treat a particular trait, such as very uniform or fun shapes (these make super fun gifts for dog loving friends), extra soft textures (great for training), super tiny treats (great for tiny dogs and puppies) and more. These fun treats complement the other products we carry.

Kibble
While it is not part of our personal feeding philosophy, we understand that there are many people that either incorporate dry dog food into their feeding plan, or even use it exclusively as a base with fresh foods added to improve the nutrition. To accommodate our customers that choose to feed that way, we now carry a small selection of kibble. Nature’s Logic and Orijen are now available in limited quantities. Want to buy kibble on a regular basis? Ask about our frequent buyer program. Kibble products also qualify for our delivery service.


Supplements. 
Nutritional supplements are a way to target specific areas of your pets health. Whether adding a daily vitamin blend for over all health, increasing vitamins B and C during teething or during a stressful life change, supplementing an older pet with glucosamine/chondroitin and fish oil for inflammation and stiffness we can advise you on products that are suited to your pets specific situation. Itchy dogs are one of our favorites to turn around. We carry the full line of B-Naturals and Animal Essentials supplements, including Daily Blend, Immune Blend, Green Blend, Daily Herbal Multi and Organic Green Alternative for every day use, Digestion Blend, Zyme digestive enzymes, Plant enzyme and probiotic Combo for digestive issues and Flexile Plus and Joint Strong for joints. We also carry tinctures and blends from Animal Apawthecary, Azmira and Tasha’s Herbs, the full line of Herbsmith brand of supplements based on traditional chinese medicine and select other premium supplements and support items for your dogs health. ☝

Omega 3 Fatty Acids. 
The one supplement that we recommend for EVERY pet is a quality Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acid. We carry them in liquid or capsule form, from small to extra large sizes to suit each pet owners needs.


Beds, Sleep Mats, Sleep Sacks and Crate Pads. 
We have a great selection of beds for your pet. Our largest selection is from Big Shrimpy. They are fully machine washable beds and covers (yes, thats right, you can wash the WHOLE bed if you need to) in assorted sizes and colors that would fit a very small dog or cat (the Catalina nest bed) to the largest Great Dane (the Original Big Shrimpy in Extra Large). We also carry the sturdy crate mats from Big Shrimpy. Big Shrimpy beds have a removable cover that is made from durable nylon and the sleep surface is available as super soft fleece or ultra durable “faux” suede. It is hard to tell from real suede and is the best choice for pets that like to “dig” on their beds prior to settling down. The crate mats are available as all nylon or with a “faux” suede finish.

For those of you wanting a different type of crate mat, we have the very best, thickest double fleece mats on the market from Taylor Designed. These mats are all machine washable and easy to maintain. The fleece mats can be bleached with no problems so are EXCELLENT for whelping females or elderly (incontinent) dogs. They are available in sizes from the smallest crate to oversized for the XXL Great Dane crate from Midwest. These mats will last you for many years if you care for them properly. We have several at our house that are approximately 9 years old! Come by and feel the quality of these fleeces and you will never use another brand again.

Taylor also makes an “igloo” style fleece bed that is available by special order in an assortment of colors of your choice. We have fabric swatches for your selection. These “igloo beds” are suitable for tiny dogs or cats (XS) to pets that weigh 15-20lb (XL) and are also fully washable.

Finally, for dogs that like to “burrow” into their beds, we carry “Animals Matter” sleep sacks. Crafted from super soft chenille and soft faux suede, they will roll down to form a “cup” style bed, or can be folded partially open to allow your pet to climb in and settle down in peace. These sleep sacks are also fully washable to keep your pet clean and cozy.

Shampoo and Grooming products. 
We carry several lines of high quality shampoos and conditioners. We use and recommend “Pure Pet”, “Hot Dog” “K9Cleanse” and “Spa” products. We also carry ear and eye cleaners, skin salves, zoom grooms , Thayer’s witch hazel (medicated or lavender), Dr. Bronner’s soaps, and many other items for all your pets grooming needs.

Toys and furniture. 
When was the last time you played with your pet? We believe that an active, involved pet is a happy pet, and playing with your pet will strengthen the bond between you significantly. There are toys for all personality types (or is that PURRsonality types?) We carry both cat and dog toys and have all kinds, from interactive puzzle toys, to throw and fetch, to tug toys, feather wands, furry teasers and more. We have latex, fleece, rubber and kevlar toys including Kong, Fat Cat, Purr-fect cat toys, Tuffys, fleecy cleans and probably even more by the time you make it to the store (we order new toys ALL the time so check our selection frequently).
Our toys Squeak, Grunt, Rattle, Crinkle and bounce all you need to add is your pet and ten minutes of your time and you will wonder why you haven’t done this every night of your life!

We are very proud of our extensive selections of cat trees (special order to your color selection only at this time due to space limitations and the fact that the store kitties assume all furniture is theirs!), cat climbers, scratching posts and play furniture for cats(or small dogs). None of our kitties are declawed, and we have found that by offering plenty of correct items for scratching along with re-enforcement training (squirty water bottle and Paws Off! tape for the “off limits” parts of the store), we are able to keep our kitties happy and well exercised and our furniture intact (hopefully as the kittens mature the same will apply to our skin). Come by and visit the “cat track” installed just for the store kitties to hang out on - if you have never seen one, you will be amazed and amused at their antics. The plan is to extend the track to encompass as much space throughout the store as is possible.

Cat Litter and scoops. 
We carry, use and recommend The Worlds Best Cat Litter (scoopable and flushable) and Tidy Cat (clay based litter for those who prefer not to scoop). We use and recommend Litter Lifter cat scoops, once you have used one, you will wonder why you ever used those flimsy annoying scoops before. Ask for a demonstration!

Collars, Leashes, and Harnesses. 
We carry the full line of Lupine products. These have been wonderful products for us, with fabulous customer service and support. All Lupine products are patterned sturdy well made nylon with safety “breakaway” closures for the cat collars (with or without bells) and sturdy snap closures for all dog products. Lupine offers products from 1/2 inch wide for small dogs, puppies and kittens/cats to 1inch wide for larger dogs. Sizes covered are 6 inches to 32 inches for necks and up to 43 inches for girth on the step in harness for big dogs.

For those customers seeking a quality leather collar, we are proud to offer Auburn leather collars. We carry a smaller selection in the store due to space limitations, but are happy to special order any item for you. Turn around is quite reasonable and the pricing of these fabulous quality collars and leads will keep you smiling.

We also carry Douglas Paquette Designer ribbon collars, leashes and harnesses. These are some of the very softest collars and harnesses that we have ever felt, and we think you will enjoy the wide variety of sizes and styles available for both boy and girl dogs. From 3/8” wide for toy dogs to 1” wide for larger and giant breed dogs, there is something for everyones taste. If we don’t have the pattern you want, we are happy to special order it for you, just ask to see the catalog.

ID Tags & Poop Pick Up

We recommend that your pet not be left “naked” with no ID when out with you. We carry the best ID tags currently available in North America. They are from Red Dingo and are thick, quality made stainless steel or brass. Enamelled embellishments are available in many colors and styles or the tags are available in appropriate shapes (dog or cat themed) if you prefer a more understated tag. These tags can be engraved with up to four lines of information including your pets name, address, multiple phone numbers and so on, depending on the size tag you select.

We always appreciate responsible pet owners who pick up after their pooch, and are happy to offer multiple choices of baggie carriers to snap on or hook to your leash so you always have a handy poop bag when you (or an unprepared fellow pet owner) needs one. Our Bella styles also have space in them for some money, your phone, your key, some treats and a hand sanitizing wipe should the need arise.

We use and recommend Lampe Berger and Alexandria fragrance lamps and diffusers to keep any unwanted odors from your house and office. If you have never used a fragrance lamp come by and see a demonstration. Once you have tried one you will NEVER go back to candles we can almost guarantee it. Our favorite hand soaps and lotions are from Fruits and Passion Cucina line - come by to sample them and see if they are not soon your favorites too!
